FAC: Hong Kong

The Secretary of State has seen your minutes of 10 and 11 January. He agrees that we should supply a paper as the Committee have asked. He would also be grateful if you could consider whether he should brief the FAC in private at some stage. He is due to give evidence before them, in I believe 3 or 4 weeks time. He also wonders whether Sir D Wilson and Sir A Donald might usefully have a session with them. The Secretary of State thinks it would probably be a good idea for the FAC to touch base with the Chinese Ambassador.
