"As I said earlier, we do not under-estimate the difficulty of the tasks ahead. The British Government's position is morally and constitutionally indefensible as more and more influential papers and leading figures in Britain are pointing out to the British public. What we seek is no more than our right. We must continue to press our case with determination and dignity, and with one voice. At the same time we must, as a community, work together to safeguard the unique features of our society, and to build up political systems for the future which will give people confidence. For Hong Kong is our home, and we are all proud of it.' W
