Future of Hong Kong Records

1. Many thanks for your letter of 26 May which is duly

being mulled over. I should like to go over a number of issues with you and Duncan in September and a 'round the table' session would, I think, be quite productive.

Just to pick-up one point you raised about original records (para 3). The discussions last year did embrace original ExCo records that were being proposed for transfer to London. I also had in mind records of other agencies such as Police, Immigration and Treasury (pension records) that will almost certainly be passed over to UK Departments in original form. Again, we can clarify this one when we meet.

I hope to be able to firm up on a date for my visit in mid-August.
