In pursuance of Economic and Social Council decision 1985/105 of

8 February 1985, the Secretary-General transmits herewith to the Council the general comments of the Human Rights Committee on the right of every person to be protected against arbitrary or unlawful interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence as well as against unlawful attacks on his honour and reputation, adopted by the Committee at its 791st meeting (thirty-second session), on 23 March 1988 (CCPR/C/21/Add.6).
