JURY (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988

(No. 37 of 1988)

This Ordinance amends the Jury Ordinance for the following purposes

(a)

to exempt from jury service all members of the Urban and Regional Councils, probation officers and certain social workers;

to repeal the requirement that lists of jurors be available for purchase and that lists of names added to settled jury lists be published in the Gazette;

(c) to facilitate the computerisation of jury listing;

to clarify the procedure for applying for exemption from jury service.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
