Thank you for your letter of 25 May about funding for the Hong Kong Archive Project in Oxford.
I was not able to mention this to Dr Ho in Hong Kong,
as you suggested. I did however discuss it with the
Governor, and showed him your letter.
Having read your description of the project I am sure that it is a most interesting and worthwhile one. I very much hope that the necessary financial backing will be forthcoming. It must of course be for Dr Ho to decide
whether or not to support this project. I naturally hope that he does. In any event I am sure you will be pursuing this matter with Dr Ho direct. I believe that this would
be the right way to take matters forward.
I wish you
every success.
