Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

Short title

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Public

Order (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.

2. Section 27 of the Public Order Ordinance (Chapter

245) is repealed.

Explanatory Memorandum

This Bill repeals section 27 of the Public Order

Ordinance, which prohibits the publication of false

news likely to cause alarm to the public or to disturb

public order.
