FILM CENSORSHIP BILL 1988
THE PROBLEM
The consultation period for the revised Film Censorship Bill 1987, published on 6 November 1987 for public information and comment, has lapsed. In the light of comments on the last draft, the Bill has been amended.

Members will be asked to advise whether-
the Film Censorship Bill 1988, at Annex I, should be introduced into the Legislative Council; and
the Bill should be printed and published in the Gazette, in the form of a Bill in English (Annex I) and in Chinese (Annex II).

BACKGROUND AND ARGUMENT

On 3 November 1987 after considering memorandum XCC(87)156 (copy at Annex III), the Executive Council advised and the Governor ordered that the revised Film Censorship Bill 1987 should be published for further public information comment for a period of four weeks.
