DENTISTS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988
(No. 4 of 1988)
This Ordinance amends the Dentists Registration Ordinance to remove the Director of Medical and Health Services as the ex officio chairman of the Dental Council of Hong Kong and to make provision for the election of a chairman by the members of the Council from amongst
themselves. The objective is to give greater independence to this statutory body.
2. The Ordinance also introduces changes to the composition of the Dental Council, the most significant being the inclusion of a lay member appointed by the Governor.
3.
Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Acting Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
