MIDWIVES REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) BILL 1987

A BILL

To

Amend the Midwives Registration Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Midwives Registration Short title and (Amendment) Ordinance 1988 and shall come into operation on a day to be commencement. appointed by the Governor by notice in the Gazette.

Section 2 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

Amendment of section 2.

(a) in the definition of "chairman" by inserting before the semicolon (Cap. 162.)

the following

"and includes any person elected to act as chairman under section 3(6C)";

(b) in the definition of "Director" by deleting "Director of Medical

and Health Services" and substituting the following-

"Nursing Director of the Medical and Health Department".

3. Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is amended-

(a) in subsection (2)—

(i) by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following-

"(b) one registered midwife in the public service of Hong Kong to be nominated by the Director of Medical and Health Services and appointed by the Governor;";

(ii) by inserting after paragraph (d) the following
