(g) to provide social and cultural services for the Hong

Kong community;

(h) to promote the general welfare of the people of Hong Kong, and in particular, in the furtherance of health and the relief of distress and sickness;

(i) to promote and extend the objects of the Association

overseas; and

(j) to establish and maintain affiliations with overseas organizations in the promotion and furtherance of the objects of the Association.".

Explanatory Memorandum

Since the formation of the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association, tuberculosis has come under control. In order that it may better serve the community, the Association has now decided to extend its activities to a wider spectrum of medical services, so as to include the operation of general hospitals and the provision of medical care and services to patients of general, surgical or geriatric cases, in addition to the existing services extended to tuberculosis, chest, and heart patients. The Association has also decided to extend its activities overseas as this may enhance the Association's long term development.

2. Clause 2 repeals and re-enacts section 4 to widen the scope of the objects of the Association to include the above.

自香港防癆、心臟及胸病協會自成立後,肺癆病近年已經受到控制。該 會為謀對社會提供更佳服務,現決定將其工作範圍擴大,包括多方面之醫療服務 除現時所提供之防癆、心臟及胸病醫療設施外,並開辦普通科醫院,增設內、外科 及老人科醫療及護理服務。此外,該會亦決定將其工作擴展至海外,以加强長遠發 展。

2.

草案第2條撤銷並重新制定原有條例第4條,將該會之成立宗旨範圍擴 大,以包括上述各項在內。
