An Ordinance to amend the Registration of Local Newspapers Ordinance.

[1 July 1988]

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Local News- Short title papers (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.

2. Section 2 of the Registration of Local Newspapers Ordinance is Interpretation amended-

(Cap. 268)

(a) in the definition of "printed document" by adding at the end

thereof

"but does not include-

(a) any document solely intended and solely used for a bona fide and ordinary commercial, professional, social or administrative purpose; or

(b) any other document issued or used by any public

body"; and

(b) by adding after the definition of "proprietor❞—

(Cap. 201)

3.

"public body" has the same meaning as it has in the Preven-

tion of Bribery Ordinance;".

Section 7 is amended by adding after subsection (1)—

Registration of local

"(1A) No local newspaper shall be registered under subsection (1) newspapers by a name which is identical with the name by which another local newspaper is already registered.".
