QUEEN ELIZABETH FOUNDATION FOR THE MENTALLY HANDICAPPED ORDINANCE 1988

This Ordinance establishes the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the Mentally Handicapped, the purpose of which is to apply for the benefit of the mentally handicapped in Hong Kong various moneys, including the net profit from the sale of gold coins to commemorate the Royal Visit in 1986.
2. The Ordinance provides for a Council to be appointed by the Governor which will manage the Foundation and its assets. The Council is given power to appoint advisers and managers. A restriction on the application of the original capital is imposed, to ensure that it is not unduly depleted.
3. Before the Deputy to the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
