Hong Kong on 23 March. One particular issue which will be at the forefront of the Governor's mind is the question of the DX's commitment to accept 468 Vietnamese refugees from camps in Hong Kong over a 2 year paziod. For various reasons it how appears that some of the original 468 have dropped out and the Hong Kong Government is anxious that the UK should agree to

to the vacant places being filled by others.

Ministers will recall that, following inter-departrantal discussions, it was agreed last year that we would accept 168 named individuals froRamps in Hong Kong who had been present in Hong Kong since befoza Gotcher 1986 and who had clean ralatives in the UK. Their arrival was to ba phased over a 2 year period.
