Thank you for your minute of 30 September with a brief

for the Secretary of State to use with the Home Secretary on 4 October. The Secretary of State has asked two questions on which I should be grateful for enlightenment:-

(a) how durable do we think the trend in your para 3 (i)

is;

(b)

do we have any indications whether the Vietnamese will accept the 250 who have now volunteered to return?
