2. I recommend that Lord Glenarthur reply on the lines of the attached draft. The Home Office agree.

Background

3. The reply is on generally standard lines. Where private

sponsorship of Vietnamese refugees is concerned, Lord Glenarthur

will recall that this is one of the options in the resettlement

package put to the Home Office recently. The Home Office have not

yet taken a final view, but are content for the draft to keep open the possibility of a change of policy.
