Proposal for EC-Statement on
the Philippines
The Twelve reviewed the latest developments in the Philippines
local following the municipal elections on January 18, 1988. They noted
with satisfaction that democratic institutions had now been
fully restored.
The Twelve further noted continued positive trends in the economy
which should contribute to stabilizing the development of the
country. They reiterated their support for President Aquino,
for constitutional democracy and for further economic recovery
in the Philippines.
