Excellency,

of the

The ICRC wishes to bring to your attention the issue resettlement of the Vietnamese land refugees in Site 2. You are undoubtedly aware that the Royal Thai Government had decided that all Vietnamese asylum seekers are to be located in a new Vietnamese camp south of Site 2 where protection and assistance will be provided by UNHCR. The Vietnamese land refugees (VNLR) already present in Site 2 will also be moved to this new camp.

The Royal Thai Government has agreed that the VNLR will be available for

for resettlement for a limited period (probably 3 months) after which the remainder will be transferred to the new Vietnamese camp, from where we have been given to understand they will not be eligible for resettlement.
