Princess Anne,

We strongly oppose to the setting up of an open centre for

Vietnamese refugees. The community resources of Tuen Mun, such as

transport, social welfare, social services, public facilities as well

as employment and education opportunities are far from satisfactory.

The addition of 10,000 refugees to the local population will surely

arouse public anxieties. As far as public order is concerned, the Vietnamese refugees, even confined in closed centres, are well known

for their violent behaviours. They often fight, make trouble or steal.

If the centre is opened, it will be a serious threat to the law and

order of the district.
