Universal condemnation of Vietnam's illegal occupation of Cambodia is also having its effect. Britain was among the first to insist that Vietnam must withdraw from Cambodia unconditionally and quickly. That remains our position. At the same time there must be no return of the terrible Pol Pot regime in their place. It is time that Vietnam looked to its own internal reforms so that the tragic exodus of its own people in boats to Hong Kong and other destinations ceases and it can starts to take its own people back in
a humane fashion.
