Dear Dr. Barber,

In the light of the Vietnamese Government's announcement that it will withdraw its troops from Kampuchea, Andrew and I thought this would provide you with a suitable peg to ask the All Party Committee for Refugees to do the following:

a)

b)

send a detailed letter (which you might volunteer to help draft) to Sir Geoffrey Howe asking whether the Government will now consider giving ODA money to UK voluntary agencies in Vietnam;

ask Alistair Goodlad and/or Jeremy Hanley if they would apply for an adjournment debate on the day the House rises to pursue this line;

c) ask Lord Ennals if he would put his name down for an

unstarred question.

Bearing in mind that the House is due to go into recess at the end of July, could you perhaps give me a buzz so that we can discuss these ideas.

Best wishes,

your sincerely,

Ann
