Suggested draft letter to Embassies or equivalent.
Sir,
Chindit Memorial
Our Association would like to approach your government to ask if consideration could be given for financial assistance towards the costs involved in raising a Memorial to the Chindit Force, which participated in the 1939-1945 World War, in Burma, with the Allied Forces.
The accompanying literature gives all the details. We should explain that we shall be writing, in a similar manner, to Governments of all countries that were associated with the Chindits and their founder and leader, Major General Orde Charles Wingate, D.S.O., namely Burma, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, Israel, Nepal, Nigeria, Hong Kong, U.S.A. and U.K. (leaving out addressee).
Political progress and development in all these countries, since 1945 would not have been possible had they not collaborated in defeating the Axis powers, whose object was World domination. It is for this reason that we thought you may wish to be associated with the proposed Memorial to a Force that comprised so many nationalities and which achieved so much.
We shall fully understand and respect any decision that is made to decline our approach.
Yours sincerely,
J. C. WHITE
