PROTECTION OF WAGES ON INSOLVENCY (AMENDMENT) BILL 1988

Explanatory Memorandum

This Bill amends the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Ordinance to empower the Commissioner for Labour to make ex gratia payments from the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund to employees who are barred from presenting a bankruptcy petition against their in- solvent employers solely because the claim or the aggregate amount of claims does not exceed $5,000.
