The visit, if allowed, would be the climax for a five-day international anti-nuclear conference to be held in HK from June 8 to

12.

Wednesday, May 25 Representatives from the Joint Conference for the Shelving of the Daya Bay Plant yesterday petitioned Omelco, criticising the Harwell contingency planning report for not taking into consideration various aspects, the media reported.

The group said that the report was not acceptable. Fung Chi-wood, a spokesman for the group, said that he strongly disagreed with the report's recommendation that no evacuation plan was necessary.

The group called on the Government to ask the Harwell consultancy to revise the report.

In another development, the SCM Post reported that Peking had taken its first concrete step toward setting up a Sino-HK joint consultative body to advise on matters concerning the Daya Bay plant.
