The ma in thrust of the report will come as no surprise. The consultants were interviewed when they visited Hong Kong in May 1987 and at that time ruled out the need for any evacuation plan, potentially the most contentious issue. Other aspects have also been covered in media reports. However, confirmation that Government accepts the report's conclusions will provide an opportunity for the anti-Daya Bay groups to renew their opposition and seek public support for
their views.

As a matter of courtesy, copies of the report will be sent to Members of the Legislative Council before it is released to the public. LegCo Members will also be given a briefing if the Convenor of the Ad Hoc Group so requests.

A press release will be issued announcing the report's publication and advising members of the public how to obtain a сору. Free copies will be given to the media, District Boards, the Urban and Regional Councils, educational institutions, libraries and other interested parties. Briefings will also be arranged for District Board Members and Municipal Councillors. In addition to describing the distribution arrangements, the press release will highlight the salient points of the report.

On the same day, the Secretary for Economic Services will chair a press conference. It will be emphasised that the Government accepts the report as providing sound guidance for future action.
