An Ordinance to amend the Registration of Persons Ordinance.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent
of the Legislative Council thereof.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Registration of Persons Short title and (Amendment) Ordinance 1987 and shall come into operation on 1 July commencement. 1987.
2. The long title to the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting Amendment of "in the Colony," and substituting the following---
“in Hong Kong, and of persons elsewhere who have the right of abode in Hong Kong,”.

3. Section 1A of the principal Ordinance is amended
Amendment of section 1A.
(a) by deleting the definition of "assistant registration officer";
(b) by deleting the definition of “family”;
(c) by inserting before the definition of "forge" the following-
"applicant" means a person who-
(a) applies to be registered under section 3;
(b) as the head of a family, applies on behalf of a person under 18 years of age to be registered under section 3;
(c) applies for an identity card under this Ordinance;
