I am sending herewith a report on capital investment in Hong Kong during the fourth quarter of Investment in plant and machinery in 1987 as a whole was generally buoyant but there was a sharp slow down in growth in the fourth quarter of the year. The property market remained generally active throughout 1987 but there were signs of consolidation in the latter

half of the year. The outlook for 1988 is expected

to be satisfactory.
