You will remember my bringing Mr Robin McLaren, Under Secretary from our Foreign Ministry, to see you on 7 November. We discussed, among other subjects, Hong Kong since Mr McLaren is the senior British Representative on the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group (JLG), which established an office in Hong Kong on 1 July 1988.

I have just received an account of the 11th meeting of the JLG held in Hong Kong from 6 to 9 December. You may like to have the attached copy, together with an account of the previous meeting.

If you find this useful and would like to receive similar reports following future JLG meetings would you please let me know. In addition, I may be able to elaborate, from time to time, on some aspects of the talks if you have any particular questions.
