LAND COMMISSION

I am pleased to report that the Land Commission has continued to work well in the last year. Agreement has been reached on the

need to extend leases in the New Territories by means of legislation. A Bill is currently before the Legislative Council and is expected to be passed during current session of the Council.

The Land Commission again acted flexibly last year to allow

disposal of land for the financial year 1987-88 in excess of the annual limit of 50 ha which is specified in the Joint Declaration.
