London Dinner

7. The main Council event in London each year is a dinner. This is a very prestigious occasion attended by senior members of Government and commerce. Last year Lord Young was the guest speaker. This

year's dinner is planned for 25 October. It was hoped that the Secretary of State would be the guest of honour: but be cannot

attend.

British Products Exhibtion

8.

As part of the official opening celebrations the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, through its Chairman, Miss Lydia Dunn, has invited the DTI to set up an exhibition of British products and services on a theme still to be agreed. Alongside the British exhibition the Council will run a Hong Kong exhibition, the theme of

which will be the electronics industry.

9. The DTI are experiencing some difficulty in attracting a sufficient number of exhibiters to fill the very large amount of floor space available. However, the BOTB/DTI are taking the occasion very seriously and hope to be able to make a positive decision to go ahead with the exhibition by August or September.
