1. Lord Glenarthur will be paying a short visit to Thailand 20-21 June en route to Hong Kong and China. programme consists of a short call on the Deputy Foreign Minister Prapass (whose interest is mainly economic subjects) and possibly on MFA Permanent Secretary Kasem; visit to the British Council and various meetings with the business and British communities.
2. Lord Glenarthur's Office have asked for minimal briefing to be provided since the visit is essentially a stopover and Lord Glenarthur will (probably) be making a more substantive visit to Thailand later in the year. I should be grateful if addressee departments could provide briefing as indicated, to reach SEAD no later than Thursday, 9 June. I have suggested topics for the bull points section. However, if copy addressees have any particular key points they wish to raise with the Thais, please send them in.
