Since assuming his appointment as Governor of Hong Kong in May 1987 Sir David Wilson has visited London twice, in July and October 1987. A further visit is planned in March this year. These regular visits are timed to enable meetings to take place between the

Secretary of State and the Governor. This question provides an opportunity to emphasise the closeness and frequency of our consultation with Hong Kong is a point which we were keen to bring out in last week's Parliamentary debate.
