Since I happened to be at Chatham House on 29 January, I took the opportunity to express the hope to the Director that if he heard from the Hong Kong Government Office about a possible speaking engagement for the Governor in March, he would respond favourably. Admiral Eberle's reaction was extremely positive.

I also button-holed the Programme Secretary. She made a slightly wry face because the programme for March is already looking very heavy, but I am sure she will cooperate.
