LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (ELECTORAL PROVISIONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988

This Ordinance amends the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance for the following 2 principal purposes
(a) to provide for the automatic/acceptance of
office by an elected Member of the Legislative Council unless he decides during a 7-day period not to accept office; and
(b)
2.
to relax the requirement of prior registration under the Electoral Provisions Ordinance (Cap. 367) to enable certain unregistered electors in a functional constituency to register under the Legislative Council (Electoral Provisions) Ordinance for the purpose of voting or seeking nomination as a candidate in the Legislative Council elections of 1988.
Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name of and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
