look into whether microwave,

food shops, does

now

commonly used in fast

does not alter the nature of the packaging

material to make it unsafe when in contact with food?

SECRETARY FOR HEALTH AND WELFARE: Sir, I will certainly

refer this to the relevant authorities.

MR.

YE UNG:

Sir, how many food business operators have

been successfully prosecuted under the Public Health and

Municipal Ordinance in the past two years? And in this

period have there been cases of repeated offences

resulting in the cancellation of the Business Registration

Zertificate?

SE CRE TARY FOR HEAL TH AND WELFARE:

sir, over the last

three years, there were 12 prosecutions for wrapping open

food with unclean paper.

There was,

however, no

prosecution for using unclean or unsuitable containers for

food. As regards repeated offences, I am sorry I do not

have that figure in hand and shall write to Mr. YE UNG.
