New clause 27A
Clause read the First time and ordered to be set down for Second Reading pursuant to Standing Order 46(6).
MRS. TAM: Sir, in accordance with Standing Order 46(6) I move that new clause 27A as set out in the paper circulated to Members be read the Second time. This amendment deletes Sustices of the peace from the process of making detention orders, thus achieving the effect of involving only judicial officers, who have the experience and are therefore in a better position to conduct hearings.
Sir, with these remarks, I beg to move.
