I accept that there are complaints and offences

arising from groups of, mostly young people renting these

houses. I am therefore referring the matter to the

Commissioner of Police and the Fight Crime Committee for

detailed consideration of the nature and extent of the problem

and what can be done to prevent it becoming more serious and occurring in other areas. I am satisfied that the police have .

adequate powers to deal with serious crime in these places,

but we may need to consider ways to improve the general

control of these premises.
