SECRETARY FOR LANDS AND WORKS : Sir, in the reply to an

earlier supplementary, I stated that I considered that the

safety situation of buildings was reasonably well looked

after by the Dangerous Buildings Section of the Buildings

Ordinance Office. By the additional strengthening of this

service what we are trying to do will be to try to prevent

the buildings from getting into a state where they really

have to be looked after by the Dangerous Buildings Section

of the Buildings Ordinance Office. Nevertheless, I would

personally be much happier if the surveying was achieved

faster than it is likely to be and I will certainly look

at Mrs. CHOW's suggestion.
