The year's increase in public funding was matched by an

encouraging increase in the support received from the private sector of the community. As a lay person serving on the College's most gratified that the College has constantly reminded itself that in the long run a higher education

institution can only be

be as strong as the community served by it will allow it to be. During the 1986-87 year, the Executive Council agreed that the limit for the proportion of the college's cat students

students on degree courses should be lifted to 75% of the total enrolment, and at the same time gave the UPGC the discretion to
