Further inspections will be conducted on the

expiry of individual abatement notices. Thereafter, the

buildings will be inspected about every six months.

Other remedial measures include: 4

(a) an interdepartmental task force which will be

set up to resolve the problem of fire hazards

to the residents of guesthouses situated in

uestho

buildings like Chungking Mansions; and

(b)

the ongoing measures taken by the Fire Services

Department to protect the lives and property of

both residents and tourists from fire. These

include educating the public through the mass

media and fire prevention campaigns, and the

increased vigilance of the operational crews

responsible for inspecting the common areas and

means of escape in buildings.
