And is that not one of the major expenditure that the
Hong Kong Government has incurred in order to provide vocational training in Vietnamese refugees camps?
That may very well be the case, SECRETARY FOR SECURITY: but again I do not have that information.

MR. CHEONG-LEEN: authority ultimately responsible for the Vietnames refugees in Hong Kong, can an approach be made to the British Government to share the costs with the Hong Kong Government for the amounts
and related incurred in vocational training, capital costs expenses, after costing has been done?
Sir, since Britain is the metropolitan
SECRETARY FOR SECURITY: This is certainly something which could be borne in mind, Sir, but I would like to make the point that the British Government does contribute both directly and indirectly to the services which I have described. The United Kingdom contribution to the UNHCR annual budget for 1987-88 amounted to
£16 million, or
$220 million
also contributed $220,000
and the British Government
to the Save the Children Fund
last year for its activities in closed camps in Hong Kong.
