Vehicle and driving licence fees

83.

Vehicle registration and driving licence fees increased last year (36). I propose to increase these fees with

per cent immediate effect by about 60.

I estimate that the additional revenue accruing from these increases will be $62 million in

1988-89.

Bank and deposit-taking company licence and registration fees 84.

Bank and OTO licence and registration fees were last increased in 1986 (37). I propose with effect from 1 April 1988

per cent an 88 increase in these and related fees. Details are given in an Appendix to the printed version of this Speech (38). The yield in 1988-89 will be around $11 million.

Passenger embarkation and berthing fees

85.

Passenger embarkation and berthing fees were increased in 1985 for Macau ferry services (39). At that time my predecessor said that, as and when facilities at other terminals were improved, we would seek to raise additional
