of the Agriculture and Fisheries Department employed
enforcement duties on the Convention on International
Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna. Hong
Kong is a party to this convention and its provisions are
given effect under the Animals
the Animals and Plants (Protection of
Endangered Species) Ordinance, Chapter 187 of the Laws
Hong Kong.
The third question, the level of fines. I am assured by
the Secretary for Economic Services that a review is being
carried out at present into the effectiveness of
penalties described by the Ordinance.
