(AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988

The objects of this Ordinance are to amend the Electoral Provisions Ordinance

(a) to remove the restriction on Urban Council

members from being elected to Urban Council area District Boards while retaining their Urban Council membership and vice versa;

to restrict membership of different representative bodies in the Urban Council area and the Regional Council area at the same time; and

to permit a member of a Council or a District Board who is elected to another body but cannot retain both memberships at the same time, to retain the right to be a member of the former body until actually taking up office in the latter body.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
