DISTRICT BOARDS (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1988

This Ordinance amends the District Boards Ordinance to -
(a)

2.
provide for the vacation of membership of a Board (other than in the case of prolonged illness) where a member fails to attend meetings of a District Board for a period of 6 consecutive months;
as a corollary of (a), provide that the Chairman of a Rural Committee shall not be entitled to take part in the proceedings of a District Board (other than in the case of prolonged illness) where he fails to attend meetings of the Board for 6 consecutive months;
provide a definition of "meeting of the Board" to exclude committee meetings; and
provide for a District Officer to preside at meetings of a District Board pending the election of a new Chairman.
Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
