2. For any other State signing without reservation of ratification, or depositing an instrument of ratification or accession after the last signature or deposit referred to in the preceding paragraph, the Convention shall enter into force on the thirtieth/sixtieth/ninetieth day following the date of its signature or deposit of its instrument of ratification or accession.

(variant B)

1. This Convention shall enter into force on the

thirtieth/sixtieth/ninetieth day after the date of the deposit with the Secretary-General of the United Nations of the twentieth/thirtieth/fortieth instrument of ratification or accession.

For cach State ratifying this Convention or acceding to it after the deposit of the twentieth/thirtieth/fortieth instrument of ratification or accession, the Convention shall enter into force on the thirtieth/sixtieth/ ninetieth day after the date of the deposit of its own instrument of ratification or accession.

Article III

TERRITORIAL APPLICATION

(variant A)

The Convention shall apply to all non-metropolitan territories for the international relations of which any Party is responsible except where the previous consent of such a territory is required by the Constitution of the In such a case Party or of the territory concerned, or required by custom. the Party shall endeavour to secure the needed consent of the territory within the shortest period possible, and when the consent is obtained the Party shall notify the Secretary-General. The Convention shall apply to the territory or territories named in such a notification from the date of its receipt by the Secretary-General. In those cases where the previous consent of the non-metropolitan territory is not required, the Party concerned shall, at the time of signature, ratification or accession, declare the non-metropolitan territory or territories to which this Convention applies.

(variant B)

Any State may, at the time of signature, ratification or accession, declare that this Convention shall extend to all or any of the territories for the international relations of which it is responsible. Such a declaration shall take effect when the Convention enters into force for the State concerned.

At any time thereafter any such extension shall be made by notification addressed to the Secretary-General and shall take effect as from the thirtieth/sixtieth/ninetieth day after the day of receipt by the Secretary-General of this notification, or as from the date of entry into force of the Convention for the State concerned, whichever is the later.
