This Ordinance amends the Dangerous Drugs

to extend the presumption as to trafficking under section 46 to possession of a specified quantity of any form of four dangerous drugs, namely, cocaine, amphetamine, methaqualone and quinalbarbitone;

to amend section 48(2) to make it clear that a person found in or escaping from a divan is presumed not only to have been smoking, inhaling, ingesting or injecting a drug there, but also to have known the nature of that drug; and

a

to provide that, in certain circumstances, court is not obliged by section 54A to consider a drug addiction treatment centre report before imposing a custodial sentence on a person convicted under section 8 or 36.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
