certain archaic remedies are abolished (section 36);

a new provision relating to interest on claims for debt or damages corrects the defect noted by the Law Commission in England in its report on Interest (Law Com. No. 38) (section 37); and

more extensive rule making powers have been included to ensure the validity of existing and proposed rules of court (sections 40 and 42).

3. A Table of Amendments which sets out the effect of each section and the corresponding provisions which have been followed is attached as an Appendix.

4. Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
