Provide for the appointment of a Film Censorship Authority and censors, and for regulating and imposing restrictions on the exhibition of films and the publication and display of advertising material relating to films; for the examination, approval and classification of films; for the establishment of a Board of Review; for the creation of offences; and for matters connected therewith.

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof.
PART I
6:1
PRELIMINARY
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Film Censorship Ordinance Short title and 1987 and shall come into operation on a day to be appointed by the commencement. Governor by notice in the Gazette.
2. In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires→
“advertising material" means any display, figure, film, poster, picture or text used or intended to be used for the purpose of advertising a film exhibited or intended to be exhibited;

"Authority" means the Film Censorship Authority established under sec-
tion 3;
“censor" means a censor appointed under section 5;
