Some DB members (a minority) believed that underaged persons who disregarded the age restriction should be punished in screway.

The suggestion of setting aside special cinemas for Category III films was raised in many meetings. The possibility of confining Category III film shows to late hours was suggested at 3 meetings.

Some boards insisted that tickets for Category III films should clearly state the condition for admittance.

13. Suggestions for easing age verification for Category III films (e.g.

early opening of cinema doors, sending those suspected to be under- aged to a special line, the employment of more ushers at doors) were well received.

A majority of DBs were in favour of the 3-tier classification system as proposed.

Few people are concerned with classification details, and it seems that definitions of categories need not be included in film advertise- ments after sufficient publicity is done). The definition for the second category can perhaps be re-worded e.g. some material in this film might be disturbing to children (rather than young children and some sections of the community.

In the past 26 weeks (in which films were classified on an experimental basis) we have passed films for Category II which contain much violence, some bed-scene or, much less often, some elements of horror. Conservative/older people may object to the depiction of sex (thoug not explicit) and bare-breasts in Category II films, while westerners/ teachers may object to the continual violence in constume kung-fu or modern gangster films. It seems to be a matter of taste (and previous exposure) rather than of "impressionable" personality.

The

As to the perennial problems of trailers and advertisements, it seems necessary to classify trailers into 3 (cr 2) categories. trailer category number should not be allowed to exceed the category number of the main feature.
